International karate organization, kyokushin Kai Kan Association Founder Chairman, Uttarakhand

Sensei (Instructor) Dev Nath is the Founder and Chairman of the International Karate Organization Kyokushin KaiKan Karate Association, Uttarakhand, and a renowned Kyokushin Karateka. He holds a San Dan (3rd-degree) black belt and has over 46 years of experience in practicing and teaching martial arts. An expert in Aikido and oriental weapons, Dev Nath has conducted numerous martial arts demonstrations across the country.

Sensei Dev Nath began his Karate training in 1981 at the age of 14, starting with the Kyokushin style under the instruction of Amitava Dutta, who represented India in the 2nd World Tournament in 1979 in Tokyo, Japan.

In 1987, Dev Nath was awarded the Bihar Championship trophy. As the youngest fighter in this tournament, he later competed in the National Oyama Cup in 1991 at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. Throughout his competitive career, he won numerous tournaments and earned his Shodan (1st-degree) Black Belt in 1991 from Kyokushin Honbu, Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, he obtained various other martial arts certifications, including a degree from Karate Budokan International in 1994.

  • In 2008, he received his Nidan (2nd-degree) Black Belt from IKO Kyokushin W.H.Q. (Honbu), Tokyo, Japan.
  • In 2010, Dev Nath was invited to Singapore for special training and to witness an upgradation test.
  • In November 2014, he was invited to the 15th Asian Karate Tournament in Shanghai, China, as a judge. He also participated in the Asian Committee Members Meeting, Seminar, and Advanced Training Camp.
  • In May 2016, he was again invited as a judge at the 16th Asia Cup in Hangzhou, China, where he also attended the Asian Committee Members Meeting, Judging Seminar, and Advanced Training Camp.
  • In August 2016, he trained at the Asian Headquarters, Orchard Tower Dojo, Singapore, and successfully completed his San Dan (3rd-degree) test.

AIKIDO – A Unique Martial Art Introduced by Sensei Dev Nath


Sensei Dev Nath is the Founder and Chairman of the Uttarakhand Aikido Association.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that emphasizes self-defense using locks, holds, throws, and the opponent’s own movements. Developed by Morihei Ueshiba, Aikido synthesizes martial techniques, philosophy, and spiritual beliefs. The term “Aikido” is composed of three Japanese characters: Ai (harmony), Ki (spirit or energy), and Do (path or way), which together mean “the way of harmonious spirit.”

 

Contribution to Kyokushin Karate

Sensei Dev Nath has served as the head of Kyokushin Karate in Uttarakhand for over three decades. He has trained and developed many skilled students across Uttarakhand and various parts of India, conducting demonstrations at reputed schools, colleges, and educational institutions.

 

Passion for Art

In addition to martial arts, Dev Nath is also a passionate artist. His paintings have been appreciated by art enthusiasts both in India and abroad, with a particular focus on nature studies.

 

Dedication to Training and Development

While serving as the Chairman of the Uttarakhand Kyokushin Karate Association, Dev Nath continues to work as a Karate Instructor and Art Teacher. He frequently conducts seminars, tournaments, training camps, dojo activities, and art exhibitions. His commitment remains unwavering in helping individuals reach their full potential—both as Karatekas and as individuals.
